Another study out of Austria in 2013 (Biochimica et Biophysica Acta General Subjects) took 10 volunteers and measured the amount of certain key hormones, in particular TNF-alpha and IL-10 after taking 5 g of resveratrol. The results demonstrated that the individuals had increased levels of TNF-alpha in monocyte cells from their blood, after the cells were stimulated with bacteria. Their findings suggest that antibacterial properties of the cells is boosted by resveratrol.

One study by Robert Falchetti, et. al, indicate that resveratrol modulates several human immune cell functions and suggest that this activity may be related to its effects on cytokine production by both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells.
